Building Blocks of Content Creation

A media brand wasn't built in a day — or was that Rome? Either way, both apply. I've learned my fair share of creating an independent media or personal brand through trial and error, and I want to share the best tools and how to use them. In this section, you'll find my recommendations for apps, tech, and overall basics you need to build your foundation. For the fourth issue of DECISIVE, I'll share some of the best affordable audio editing software to have as a journalist, producer, creator, etc. Because of the nature of wanting to be as accessible as possible, I'll share two options.
Ferrite Recording Studio
Ferrite is my current favorite audio editing app and so worth the price. Ferrite focuses on workflow, with features to speed you up and a clean UI (user interface) designed to get out of your way. It works just like a voice memo app: one tap and you're recording. But there's also a full editing suite to assemble your recordings — and imported clips — into polished final audio. This audio editing software is iPhone and iPad friendly and makes editing audio very easy. I use Ferrite on my iPad to quickly edit tracks if I don't have time to get on the computer. The app is free with in-app purchase options that make it the best choice for quality audio editing. My favorite feature is the ability to remove all silence pauses in a track. This feature allows you to tighten up audio in one swift tap. Ferrite allows an affordable and portable editing option for Radio journalism, podcasts, lecture recordings, audio presentations, and more: all made easier with Ferrite Recording Studio tools such as bookmarking, automatic ducking, and silence removal.
Price: Free with in-app purchases | https://www.wooji-juice.com/products/ferrite/
Adobe Audition
Adobe Audition is the staple in quality audio editing software. Everyone should learn Audition to understand the basics of audio editing. Audition is available on Mac & PC devices and allows you to edit multi-tracks for various things such as music, radio, podcasting, voiceovers, etc. Adobe Audition is relatively simple to use if you've used any other editing software from Adobe, like Photoshop or Premiere. There are various price options to subscribe to for a license key for the software and even education pricing.
Price: Free trial available; subscription starts at $20.99 per month ($19.99 for education pricing); all subscription options here. | https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html?single_app=audition&promoid=KTKAY
Stay Streaming VOL. 4

Stay Streaming is a collection of music that has been getting nonstop streams from me as of late. Some artists featured you'll know and love, while others you soon will. Of course, some songs may be old but hidden gems, but one thing's for sure they're all tracks I stay streaming.
Worth the Watch

I've been a big film and TV buff since the first time I opened my eyes. To escape into a world with a little box as I gaze on the screen is my favorite pastime. I grew up watching old black & white films with my grandmother and clung to every line of these fictional worlds from "A Streetcar Named Desire" to action films like "Planet of the Apes." And TV was no different, binging classics like "I Love Lucy," "Good Times," and "Knight Rider." Since growing up, not much has changed, and I still love a great film or TV show, and in this section of the DECISIVE newsletter, I'll be sharing what's worth watching.
Emily in Paris

After a company merger, Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper is hired to provide an American perspective at a Paris marketing firm. Emily is quickly drawn to Paris's allure and lands herself in some awkward situations as her work & love life entangle. I binged the entire first season in one day and wanted more of the story. It's terribly good and if you were a fan of "Sex in the City," "Gossip Girl," or "Younger" you'll enjoy it.
Where to watch: Netflix
Happening in Hollywood
The entertainment industry is navigating a pandemic world and shifting priorities; various project developments, from TV to film, were announced recently in trade publications. Here are the projects to keep an eye on.
